Learning for Life Education Series

What is Islam?
Do you want to understand the Muslim faith tradition? In this session we will learn about the origins of Islam, the life of Muhammad and the revelation of the Qur’an. An explanation of the emergence of different Islamic groups, particularly the Sunni and Shi’a will be presented. And attendees will be provided with information on the basic Islamic beliefs and practices, and some sense of the experience of being a Muslim. Odeh Muhawesh is the featured speaker. He is a Shia Muslim, an American entrepreneur and member of the Board of Advisors for the St. Thomas College of Arts and Sciences. This will be a foundation to the next two courses.
