Ben Fowke graduated with a degree in finance and accounting from Towson University, just 50 miles outside of Annapolis, Maryland, where he was raised. In the 1990s, Fowke was vice president in the NCE Retail business unit, which the company later merged with Northern States Power Co. to form Xcel Energy Inc.
